Two students of St. Raphael’s Girls School in San Thome won silver medals in the coxless pairs event at the sub junior Nationals held at Hyderabad in November 2023.
Vidyashree and Hemalatha were the proud winners.
They had won a silver in the same event at the National held in Kashmir in 2022.
The duo are part of the team of five school girls who are coached at the Madras Boat Club. For about two years now, Madras Boat Club in R A Puram, as part of its CSR programme, has been coaching girls from this girls school; they have been training even during the pandemic time in 2021.
Some of these girls now study at San Thome Hr Sec. School.
They have attained this competitiveness under their coach S. Hareendra Shankar, a Mandaveli resident.
