Paattum Bharathamum – an inter-school Carnatic music and Bharatanatyam dance competition is a flagship event of the National Boys’ & Girls’ Education Society (Regd.), Mylapore.
The Society manages three schools – Lady Sivaswami Ayyar Girls’ Higher Secondary School, Sir Sivaswami Kalalaya Senior Secondary School, (CBSE) and Sir Sivaswami Kalalaya Higher Secondary School, (CBSE)
This competition was conducted at two levels – for juniors and seniors.
The preliminary rounds began on October 10 and after various rounds, with 15 schools competing, the festival culminated in the finale that was held at R.R. Sabha, Mylapore, on November 2.
Luminaries of the music and dance world graced the occasion – Ghatam Kartick and Anita Guha were guests of honour, and Papanasam Ashok Ramani, Hariprasad, Roja Kannan and Lavanya Ananth were the special invitees.
The president of the National Boys’ & Girls’ Education Society, Srinivasan.K. Swamy presided over the function.
Schools like Vidya Mandir, P. S. Senior, Sri Sankara Senior and PSBB – K.K. Nagar.
The overall winner were the students of Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan Senior, K.K. Nagar.
