On the first day of the Karthigai season, there were many devotees of lord Ayyappa at the Sri Ayyappa Temple in MRC Nagar on Friday morning.
They were here to formally start the rituals and prayers in preparation of their pilgrimage to the lord Ayyappa Temple in Sabarimala.
A senior handed over the bead malai to the devotees this morning to signal a period of fast, prayer and devotion.
