Bharat Sangeet Utsav 2023 is back at Narada Gana Sabha, Alwarpet, with a variety of concerts from the 4th to the 10th of November.
The fest is organised by Carnatica and Sri Parthasarathy Swami Sabha and features a line-up of star performers this year and covers a wide variety of genres and themes.
On the opening day, is a Carnatic fantasy play premiering for the first time, conceptualised by K.N. Shashikiran and featuring the drama legend Kathadi Ramamurthy. Titled “Gandharvalokathil Oru Isai Maanaadu”, the play will also feature several popular musicians including Ashwath Narayanan, Thiruvarur Girish, Akshay Padmanabhan, K. Gayathri, Vidya Kalyanaraman, Anahita-Apoorva, R.P. Shravan and J.B. Keerthana besides others.
This will be followed by a Quarantine from Reality (QFR) show Ondrum Ondrum Ondru by Subhashree Thanikachalam.
This year’s fest features unique combinations including a jugalbandhi performance by young Rahul Vellal (Carnatic) and Ghulam Hasan Khan (Hindustani), a concert titled “Naada-Swara Pravaaham” by Bharat Sundar (vocal), Mylai Karthikeyan (Nadaswaram) and vidwan Thiruvarur Bhaktavatsalam (mridangam).
Vidwan Vijay Siva will present a Sampradaya Kutcheri, Sandeep Narayan will present a Tamilisai concert, and Prince Rama Varma will present a unique concert titled, ‘Magic through Musical Notes’ and Malladi Brothers will take the audience on a musical pilgrimage of India titled Bharathiya Vividha Sangeetha Pradharsana”.
U. Ve. Dushyant Sridhar will team up with vocalist Kunnakudi Balamuralikrishna to present a katha-kutcheri titled, “Raamanin Paadhaiyil”.
