Navaratri is being celebrated at Sri Kolavizhi Amman Temple in Mylapore.
On day one of the festival, Sunday evening, a large number of people streamed in and prayed before the Amman, who is decorated with a special alankaram daily.
A large kolu has also been set up.
Concerts by young artistes are held on the stage on the temple campus in the evenings.
