Guidance Friends – the youth group of Our Lady of Guidance Church in R. A. Puram – received an award from Chennai Corporation mayor R. Priya this week.
This was given to acknowledge the social work undertaken by this group, more importantly the conduct of blood donation camps in the church campus.
This function was held during a Kalaignar centenary celebration hosted by Chennai Corporation on October 28.
The award was received by president Kevin and a few members of Guidance Friends. They received a shield and a certificate. The certificate was given in the name of Our Lady of Guidance Church.
Every year, this church, under the leadership of parish priest Fr Y. F. Bosco organises blood donation camps during the Lenten season. The youth group takes up this initiative and supports these camps.
