The Scrabble Literacy initiative being promoted at Queen Mary’s College (QMC) is moving to the next level with the Alfred Butts Intercollegiate Scrabble Tournament being conducted on the 8th and 9th of September.
This competition is open for college students.
The prelims will be held at QMC on Sept. 8 and the finals for the top 10 finalists at the US Consulate, Chennai on the 9th of September.
The tournament gets its name from Alfred Butts who was the founder of Scrabble. The organisers at QMC say they thought it would be most appropriate to have the intercollegiate tournament in Butts honour, co-hosted by the US Consulate in Chennai.
