The first set of hawkers selling dolls for the kolu for the oncoming Navaratri festival have set up shop on North Mada Street in Mylapore.
Since Friday morning, hawkers who had found spaces on this busy street, between the entrances to local shops, pulled out the boxes and began to unwrap the bommais.
By Sunday, more hawkers are expected to set up shop here.
However, the rains could dampen sales and shopping. Friday evening’s heavy rain was an indication of what the weather could be in the days to come.
