A Raga Identification Competition is being held for Carnatic music rasikas on October 8.
It is jointly organised by The Music Academy, TAG Corporation and Ramu Endowments and will be held at 10 a.m. at the Academy hall.
Audio clippings will be played for a participant to identify the raga. The competition is open only to individual participants. There is no age limit. Performing music artistes and advanced music students will not qualify for the event. Winners of the first prize in earlier years will not be invited to participate.
After the competition, there will be a brief presentation on ‘Identifiable Raga Phrases’ by Dr. R.S. Jayalakshmi, well known vainika and musicologist.
