A long-time Mylapore resident, R. Alamelu passed away on August 10 morning ( Thursday ) at her residence in Nanganallur, after a brief illness.
She is survived by 3 daughters and 2 sons, grandchildren and great grand children. She led a satisfying life and lived 87 years, her family said.
She was a retired teacher who had worked in a state government school in Mylapore and then in
Saidapet for about 40 years.
Her son said that Alamelu was an ardent devotee of Lord Kapaleeswarar and goddess Karpagambal and would be at the temple regularly.
Her husband, Balasubramaniam, a former LIC employee passed away some years ago.
