The community in Jethnagar in Mandaveli celebrated Independence Day this Tuesday morning.
Senior resident Kannan hoisted the national flag at a nook on the street side.
Kannan has been a senior member of Jethnagar which was the erstwhile Somu Mudaliar Colony. He held senior positions at ICF in its design & development department.
Kannan received accolades during his illustrious career with ICF where with his team of engineers designed the Palace on Wheels train for Rajasthan Tourism and the Shatabdi Express trains.
Hema Ramachandran, founder of Bharatha Kalalayam School of Music and a resident, brought her music and dance students to the venue and they rendered a few patriotic songs.
As a continuation of the celebrations, the Association here plans to hold a heritage walk inside Jethnagar, art competition and a quiz and to honour all teachers in the colony.
