The annual dance fest of Natyarangam, a wing of Narada Gana Sabha, which is now on at the sabha’s auditorium has showcased this far, some hugely creative and stunning dance performances.
The fest began on August 11 and closes on August 15.
This year, the theme is ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ and celebrates Nature, animals and birds which are part of life.
The featured dancers have to explore themes related to the main theme; they have been guided by scholars, artists and Nature experts.
Christopher Guruswamy ( seen in first photo) was on stage on day one and going by the feedback from rasikas who watched him, his was a stunning performance, one where the artiste transformed into creatures of the earth.
K. R. Manasvini, ( seen in second photo) who performed on day two evening, presented her own version of the theme and some parts of the recital, brought out her best, for which she got a huge round of applause from a sizable audience on Saturday.
Shijith and Parvathy, the couple who are hugely influenced by the Kalakshetra style, also excelled. As Natyarangam’s S. Janaki said at the curtain call, Shijith is know for a very good Bharatanatyam dancer but on Sunday evening, his theatre skills came to the fore.
Dakshina Vaidhyanathan and Kali Veerapathiran will perform on Monday and Tuesday evening.
At Narada Gana Sabha hall, Alwarpet. Open to all. One concert every evening.
