On Monday evening, there was a strong spell of rain that started at 6 p.m. and last for close to 45 minutes.
While the rainwater ran off into the drains along streets and roads in many places, the water did stagnate in places where the drains are weak or streets and roads have pot-holes or have been ‘cut’ for civic or service work in the locality.
Inside Sri Kapaleeswarar Temple in Mylapore though, in the illumination of lights in the temple and around it, the falling rain created colourful patterns all around.
There were very few people inside the temple, many having left as the dark clouds gathered.
