The management and the residents of P. Obul Reddy Senior Citizens Home located on the
Andhra Mahila Sabha campus in R. A. Puram celebrated the birth anniversary of the founder of this organisation, Dr. Durgabai Deshmukh.
This event was held on July15.
Usha Sethuraman, secretary, said that the seniors got together at a hall in the campus for this occasion, contributing in their own ways for this occasion.
The medical director Dr. K. J. Jayakumar highlighted the remarkable life and work of Durgabai Deshmukh and how the many blocks on the R. A. Puram campus had been founded and built.
Lavanya, a committee member, spoke on Durgabai’s service in answer to Gandhi’s call and her role in the event on the Marina marking the salt satyagraha.
Haripriya, a resident of the Home, also spoke. Shabari Sairam, another resident, had drawn an image of Durgabai Deshmukh artistically.
