India Handmade Collective (IHMC), a group of handmade artisans, is presenting a natural dye exhibition and sale of handmade clothing on July 7, 8 and 9 at C P Arts Centre, Eldams Road, Alwarpet.
IHMC, which initially started in Nov 2020 to support lockdown crisis for artisans, has centred around eco-friendly and livelihood supporting fashion, says a media note.
Natural dyes are colouration that are obtained from sources found in nature such as plants, animals and minerals.
This event offers a wide variety of natural dyes, the fabric is also either organic cotton or hands-on or handwoven too.
There will be varieties of muslin, Jamdani, organic desi cotton, embroidered material, Tie and Dye, Leaf prints and Block Print Khadi and handloom, besides accessories – from various states of India.
Presented at this sale are fabrics and yardage, sarees, dupatta and stoles, womenswear, menswear and kidswear, bath and home furnishings, handbags, coconut shell and banana fibre crafts and more.
There are hands-on workshops and movie screenings and discussions during the event. Also, the host plans to conduct a hand-spinning workshop and natural dye painting workshop.
