‘Know Your Theatre’ is a theatre literacy series curated by Masquerade – the Performance Group, Chennai. The group is based out of Abhiramapuram.
The series, through monthly performed readings of the published works of a playwright or theatre practitioner, strives to educate theatre artistes, aspirants and the public about the history, evolution and growth of theatre.
It celebrates the contributions of theatre practitioners. In June 2023, the life and works of Padma Shri decorated theatre person, late Na Muthuswamy were showcased.
For the month of July, on 29th, Saturday, between 6 pm and 8 30 pm, the group will perform and read excerpts of plays by Adyar-based Mohan Narayanan, an 88 year old, internationally published author of five Plays and 8 novels.
An engineer by profession, Mohan Narayanan took to writing, music composing and movie-making after he retired in the 1980s. His plays have had their premiere at Hollywood Interact Theatre, as well as in Chennai by The Madras Players and by Masquerade.
