Dozens of volunteers, men and women joined hands to set up earthen lamps, pout oil in them and set them alight this evening on the steps of the expansive tank of Srin Kapali Temple.
The occasion was pournami.
As the moon rose up in the eastern skies and was seen clearly on what was yet another steamy, sweaty and stuffy day here, the stark, natural lighting of the thousands of lamps stood out to give a magical look all around in the early evening darkness.
People are not allowed access to the tank but on special occasions simply because many people dump food, plastic and paper waste here and pollute the water.
