Elections to the Students Council at Rosary Matric Girls School in San Thome are one of the calendar events that the students look forward to.
For the new academic year, these took place on Saturday and this year tradition was followed to the letter.
Senior and sub-senior students queued inside the polling room in the basement, in turn, to cast their ballot. The process which started after 8;30am ended at about 11;30 am.
The community then assembled in the campus quadrangle for the results.
Lydia Mary Baiju of Std.12 was named School Pupil Leader and Tasneem Shaazia S. K. of Std.11 was named her deputy.
School principal, Sister Vensi Sahayarani then crowned the girls and put on the ceremonial sashes on the two students who couldn’t hide their excitement.
The duo got a big round of applause from the community.
