Rev. Dr. Y. Sailas Gnanadoss has been serving in the Church of South India for more than 40 years. He has recently taken over as the new pastor at CSI Saint Thomas Tamil Church, San Thome.
Dr. Sailas says he is interested in planting trees and has planted more than 50,000 saplings in the vicinity of Chennai and Chengalpet districts. He also received an award from former state minister Dr. H. V. Hande for his community work.
He has done ministerial work for people affected with leprosy. He has toured various countries like the USA, Israel, Switzerland, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Thailand, for both educational and ministry work.
He is married to Edith Sailas, a teacher who retired as a headmistress of a CSI-managed school. Edith is the recipient of Dr. Radhakrishnan’s Best Teacher award both at the national and the state level.
