Hemalatha Ramachandran’s Bharatha Kalalayam school of music and dance has moved to a new location recently. in Mandaveli.
The school now also operates at 34/1, Basement CSM Plaza, Devanathan Street, Mandaveli, Chennai – 28. Classes are conducted at the new centre during the weekends.
Hemalatha Ramachandran, artistic director of this school said, “The new centre is fully air-conditioned and has a wooden flooring which makes dancing easy. The ambience will aid in learning the art better.”
The school offers classes for kids from 5 years onwards and also for women.
Hemalatha has been teaching Bharatanatyam and vocal classes in Mandaveli for the past 30 years. She is planning to open more branches in various parts of the city.
Hemalatha is a disciple of Kalaimamani awardee Tanjai Arunachalam Pillai and Kalaimamani awardee Jayalakshmi Arunachalam. She has also trained under Saraswati Sundaresan and has given more than 1000 solo performances and has taken part in a number of Doordarshan programmes.
