Velleeswarar provides darshan atop Adikaara Nandi; utsavam is on at temple

On the third morning of the Vaikasi utsavam, lord Velleeswarar went around the four Mada Streets on a six- hour-long procession providing darshan atop Adikaara Nandi.

A handful of devotees gathered at 6 am for the gopura vaasal deeparathanai but the crowd picked up later in the morning even as the sun beat down hard.

A highlight of the long procession was the non-stop, energetic beating of the periya udal with tiny tots giving it their devotional best.

There was a two-hour halt at the Vaniyar Mandapam on East Mada Street before, the swami was carried out again to return to his abode by noon to a voyali performance by the Sripatham to the tunes of nottuswaram.
