445 teens perform on keyboard at San Thome hall. For a cause. Set a record too.

The largest keyboard ensemble to raise awareness against child labour was held  on May 1 – World Labour Day – and this event was curated by Kalaimamani awardee M. S. Martin.

445 children and youth came together to perform at St. Bede’s Centenary Auditorium, San Thome.

Martin is known for his unique approach to teaching Carnatic music through keyboard, is the founder of Madhuradhwani Sangeetha Sabha, a recognised not-for-profit trust that conducted the event.

Along with his own pupils, students of 30+ keyboard music teachers across Tamil Nadu joined his team to play in unison for this mega keyboard event.

The key guests were the minister for school education, Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, the director of department of arts & culture, Tamil Nadu, S. R. Gandhi and senior vocalist Dr. Sirkali G Siva Chidambaram.

This remarkable event has been entered the Asia Book of Records for the most number of participants for the largest keyboard ensemble, says a note from the organiser.
