There have not been any cases of chain snatching or petty theft on the day of the chariot procession , DCP Rajat Chaturvedi told Mylapore Times on Monday evening.
He was overseeing the security and we met him just as the procession got back to the temple.
He said that over 300 police personnel had been deployed in the Mylapore area including 50 Inspectors.
There were also police personnel positioned at Mylapore and Mandaveli stations and at bus stops in this zone to monitor suspicious activity and restrain trouble-makers
This has paid us rich dividend in terms of crime prevention, he said.
Zero crime of any kind on this day gives a great deal of satisfaction and is testimony to the hard work put in by the entire team, Rajat said.
