The Jain community in Mylapore is coming together to celebrate the 2622nd Janma Kalyanak Mahotsav of Bhagwan Mahavir.
The event is on April 4 at Jain Sthanak premises on Bazaar Road, Mylapore.
The day-long event starts with prayer. Then follows social and community based events – the opening of a drinking water booth for this summer, annadhanam and buttermilk and laddos distribution.
That afternoon, there will be formal launches of social welfare projects.
In Mylapore, the communjty is funding that day’s dialysis treatment of people who consult at the Javantmull Chordia Diagnosis Centre based in Arundel Street, Mylapore.
Furniture is to be donated to the Andhra Mahila Sabha in. R. A. Puram.
The days event is supported by Shree Vardhaman Shwetambar Sthanakvasi Jain Sangh, Mylapore and Shree S. S. Jain Yuvak Sangh, Mylapore.
The Yuvak Sangh’s president G. Sanjay Sethiya says that this is an annual event and the community in Mylapore joins hands to mark this occasion.
