Kauvery Cancer Institute, jointly with Raja Annamalipuram Residents’ Association (RAPRA), conducted a free breast cancer detection screening camp on February 5 at R A Puram Sixth Main Road.
Thirty women were screened in an air-conditioned Volvo bus fitted with mammogram machine and consultation cabins, assuring the patients total privacy.
Para medics checked the patients’ vitals like BP, blood sugar and weight followed by mammogram and a specialist doctor’s consultation.
The women who underwent the test said that it was a painless experience and both the para medics and the doctor were very friendly and courteous.
The emphasis of the camp was to assure women that cancer is curable if detected early, says Dr R. Chandrasekaran, patron of RAPRA.
