Pongal festival celebrations were held at St Bedes Anglo-Indian School, San Thome on January11 in a small way.
Though there wasn’t any folk dancing and singing to ring in the festival mood, the students took in the aroma of freshly cooked sweet pongal and then partook of it as it got distributed in every classroom this morning.
This was made possible with the support of the Old Bedeans Association ( alumni of the school).
Also, Scholastic books were contributed by the alumni of the 1978 batch – to the school library, says Stafford Mantel, secretary of the Old Bedeans unit.
