Woman designs large ‘mayil’ rangoli in front of temple

Women of Mylapore have always been at local temples at festival time to design kolams and rangolis to add a great traditional touch to the celebrations.

On Thursday, as early as 3 a.m., one woman is said to have sat on Sannithi Street, near the space outside the east gopuram of Sri Kapali Temple to design a large rangoli with the mayil ( peacock) and its core.

Hawkers here said that she took three hours to complete the work and left the place. It was perhaps her offering for the margazhi season.
