Vijaya Srinivasan, a Warren Road resident passed away on December 2.
She was born on August 12, 1936.
Said her family – Amma was a very loving and vibrant personality and found great joy in cooking all the favourite dishes for her family, nieces, nephews and ‘adopted’ friends.
Vijaya was into music too and established the music group ‘Annapurna Anjali’ in Trivandrum where the family used to reside, where she taught music and gave several live and radio performances.
She set to music the poetry written by her paternal aunt Annapurna ‘Ammini’.
Her family said she was ‘very deeply affected by the loss of her three sisters, ‘the Warren Road Sisters’, and each were strong proponents of women’s rights.
She is survived by her husband Dr. N. S. Srinivasan (who was an advisor to the Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka governments as well as to the central government on traffic management issues), her two daughters Dr. Shobha Srinivasan and Dr. Sukanya Srinivasan and family members.
