The annual Natya Darshan event of Kartik Fine Arts is on today, Sunday, its final day. It was launched on Friday evening where a few senior and young artistes were decorated with awards. Among them was guru Chitra Visweswaran. The venue – Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mylapore.
‘The theme of this seminar is Dvi Nethram, a theme said to showcase the folk as well as classical performing arts.
The mornings are devoted to short performances, mostly folk, with troupes from south India on stage. These included therukoothu and this Sunday morning, there is Yakshagana and Oggu Dolu Vinyasam; discussions follow these snappy acts. These are open to all.
Bigger dance productions and concerts are billed for the evening, ticketed events and this Sunday evening, senior dancer Ananda Shankar Jayant and her dancers are on stage for the main show, starts 7 p.m.
