On a day when record rainfall took place in the city, some inner streets of Mylapore were flooded, with the water lashing against the doors or shutters of houses and shops.
This was because these streets do not have good drains.
A case was Thiru Vi Ka 3rd Street that runs off Royapettah High Road, alongside the flyover near the Jammi Complex.
This is a narrow street and by noon on Tuesday, Nov.1, the water level was rising even as it rained steadily.
Similar was the case in other small streets in the same area.
