On September 28, there was heavy rain, lightening and thunder. At about 3 p.m. that afternoon, a steeple at the entrance of Our Lady of Guidance Church in R. A. Puram was struck by lightning.
Small pieces of brickwork of the steeple fell down. Even the cross with LED lights on top of the church was damaged. However no one was injured.
Fr. Y. F. Bosco, parish priest of this church said that repair work has been done and that the steeple and cross have been restored.
He said that he has plans to install a lightening conductor in the church premises shortly.
