In keeping with the spirit of the Christmas season that unfolds in December, CSI Good Shepherd Church in Alwarpet is observing Gift Sunday on December 4.
Members of the church have been asked to bring in gifts that will be given to the poor and underprivileged people in villages. The gifts can be clothes for children, toys, sarees, veshtis, bedsheets, towels etc.
Secretary of the pastorate committee Y. Bhuvnesh Kumar said that representatives from villages come to the church to collect these gifts and distribute them to the poor people in the village.
In the evening at the church campus, at 6p.m, there will be a Sunday School Christmas programme. There will be cultural events.
This event is being co-ordinated by Jhansi Solomon, the superintendent of Sunday School and the other Sunday School teachers.
Secretary Bhuvanesh Kumar says the parish also conducts Sunday School for non Christians every Sunday from 4 to 6 pm. These children will also participate in this event which will take place in the church campus.
