The Chennai branch of HSBC bank is currently hosting its annual Helping Hands Mela at its branch on Cathedral Road. It opened on October17 and closes on 21.
At this mela, HSBC hosts at its space, a bunch of NGOs to set up stalls to market and sell products their members make. The NGO members can also talk about their projects to the bank’s customers who come by.
The guests at the launch of the mela held this week, were journalist N. Ram of The Hindu group and Somdev Devvarman, renowned tennis player.
Stephen Dique, senior vice president and branch head, says that ‘through this initiative, HSBC while encouraging and supporting 12 NGOs, is also trying to create awareness about what each of these NGOs are striving to achieve’.
The Branch is also promoting the idea of wellness through sports and fitness. The decor at this branch is also in line with this theme.
The mela is on from 10 am to 4 pm, daily and the HSBC branch at No.5 & 7, Cathedral Road, Chennai – 600086.
