Chennai Metro work: traffic from Adyar to Mylapore to be diverted at MGR-Janaki College zone

Prepare to face slow-moving traffic, traffic jams, some chaos and some sticky times in the days ahead – if you are the type who uses the junction off Durgabhai Deshmukh Hospital campus – MGR Janaki Women’s College zone.
Chennai Metro has to soon start work across from its biggest work space – what used to be the GCC playground opposite Jesus Calls campus: this civil work needs the area of the junction on the R K Mutt Road side, off this junction.
The area will be barricaded before work starts – this Metro line, from North Chennai, via Luz, Mandaveli and R A Puram – heads to Adyar and southwards.
Notice boards  have come up at the junction, saying vehicles headed to Pattinapakkam, Mandaveli and such areas will now have to be diverted via Kamaraj Salai and Srinivasa Avenue, and can either proceed to C P Ramaswamy Road or re-join R K Mutt Road near Rani Meyyammai Girls School.
Traffic Police at this sport told Mylapore Times that the diversion will come into affect soon; can be on trial basis before some pucca plans are put in place.
