A large-scale renovation will start soon at Sri Karaneeswarar Temple. Apart from painting of the raja-gopuram and the outer walls, repair works will take place on the vahanas.
Shanmugha gurukal told Mylapore Times that the major works include flooring, drainage and wiring. He said that the work will start in a month or two and the entire exercise is likely to take about a year.
Already, donors have come in for painting and repair works. Donors will have to be finalised for flooring, drainage and wiring works.
The last renovation took place almost two decades ago, in 2003.
