TKR Music Trust (based at No 32, Bava Road, Alwarpet) is hosting a Carnatic music vocal concert of the compositions of Thiruvalampozhil K. Ramkumar by Dr. R. Ganesh at 6.30 p.m onwards on Sunday, July 10 at Sri Kapaleeswarar Temple, Mylapore.
He will be accompanied by Karaikal Venkatasubramanian on violin, K R Ganesh and Chidambaram S S Balashankar ( double mridangam) and Adambakkam Shankar (ghatam).
Thiruvalampozhil K. Ramkumar, a senior vice-president at Ashok Leyland has been composing songs after a trigger set off during the pandemic times, much of the work done extempore.
He has over 250 compositions to his credit ( all in Tamil), on a variety of themes, gods and temples; 100 songs have been tuned and recorded. “The history of the temple I write on is woven into my work and this draws in the artiste or rasika,” he says.

“My work is by divine intervention,” says Ramkumar. ” I have not formally studied Tamil but I write in it and I am a music rasika.”
