Preliminary work on Chennai Metro’s next phases of rail lines has begun and is going on at a fast pace.
Barricaded work spots have come up on TTK Road in Alwarpet, on Luz Church Road near Luz Circle and on R K Mutt Road in Mandaveli.
Workers here say that they will be carrying out soil tests first.
On TTK Road the Metro work as well as GCC’s new drains work runs parallel but since these spots are well barricaded, traffic movement is smooth though slow and does jam during peak hours.
Hectic work is going on at the former GCC playground opposite Jesus Calls campus in south R A Puram.
Work is also going on off the service road of the Marina between Gandhi statue and Light House. This is the zone for a big stations interchange junction.
The two lines run north to south and from east to west.
