The priests and the community at St Thomas Cathedral in San Thome, celebrating the annual feast of saint Thomas came out on to the high road on Saturday evening to take out a car procession to honour the saint.
Two years of the pandemic had frozen the celebration, limiting it to Masses said at the cathedral.
This evening, the faithful, in twos and threes started from the campus of Our Lady of Guidance Church on Lazarus Church Road, walked down the high road, saying prayers even as the weekend traffic roared in the middle; and ended the procession at the cathedral where a Mass was celebrated.
Girls, dressed in flowery dresses and. carrying flower baskets, kept throwing flowers in front of the colourfully decorated palaquin with an image of the saint.
