The annual Thiru Kalyana Utsavam of Saivite saint-poet Thiru Gnana Sambandar will be celebrated tomorrow, Tuesday ( June 14) at the Sri Kapaleeswarar Temple.
Legend has it that Thiru Gnana Sambandar attained mukthi immediately after his wedding and merged with the Lord.
The day will be marked by a Mada Street procession of Thiru Gnana Sambandar at 7.30pm. As part of the artha jaama pooja starting at 9pm, the event of Thiru Gnana Sambandar attaining mukthi by merging with the Lord will also take place.
As part of the Pournami celebrations, there will be a ‘laksha deepam’ tomorrow.
Tuesday will also see Sri Kapaleeswarar and Karpagambal being anointed with sandalwood paste.
