The issue relating to the fair rent set on The Mylapore Club by the HR & CE Department on premises owned by Sri Kapali Temple is likely to see a positive closure soon with both sides coming close to a mutually agreed figure.
A high level committee of the HR & CE will hold a meeting and decide on the fair rent of all temple properties in the Mylapore area.
This follows a High Court hearing earlier this month relating to the rent to be paid by The Mylapore Club for the temple’s property on Luz Church Road.
D. Kaveri, the officer at Sri Kapaleeswarar Temple told Mylapore Times that they had told the court on the need for a ‘fair rent’ for its properties. “The high level committee at our head office will now decide on the fair rent and we will act as per that,” she said.
In the past, it has been the practice to increase the rent by 15% after a certain period. It is expected that this time too, the rent fixed will be in line with this practice.
