Chennai’s Mayor Priya and GCC Commissioner Gagandeep Singh Bedi inspected the state of the work on new storm water drains (SWDs) in Seethammal Colony and in the Alwarpet zone alongside TTK Road on Tuesday morning.
While work is complete in some parts here, it is still on in others. This was one of the areas in this part of Chennai which was severely flooded during the 2021 monsoon.
Even the chief minister, who resides in this zone has visited these SWD work spots.
But the Mayor and commissioner did not move to Dr Ranga Road, to inspect the work on SWDs here (not far from this zone) where residents have been facing the brunt of rash work undertaken by contract workers – power outages, sewage pollution and more.
