Owners of properties across the city have started getting communication from Greater Chennai Corporation property tax general revision notices.
Sent by registered post via India Post, postal staff began delivering these notices in Mylapore from today.
Besides a note on the revised half yearly tax you need to pay, you may want to note the new assessment ID that you have been given – with changes made either in the zone, the ward and the bill number too ( these details are given at the top left corner of the communication).
Objections if any, may be raised within 15 days of receipt of the notice at the GCC’s Regional Deputy Commissioner’s office of your zone; else it will be assumed that the revised tax is accepted.
GCC has revised the tax after many years and many property owners have said that it is steep.
