Ranade Library in Luz reopened on Thursday. The library and Sastri Hall on the first floor here was sealed by the state’s HR&CE Department for rental arrears.
But this week, the hony. secretary of SINA, Hemanth Kumar which manages these spaces paid Rs.40 lakhs against the dues that stand at about Rs.75 lakhs and the library was allowed to open. But the hall remains sealed.
Earlier, Hemanth Kumar said he would await a hearing of the case in court on June 6 to present his case and seek relief. He said the sealing was a ‘hasty decision’.
The library is open 7.30 am – 10.30 am and from 5.30 pm to 7.30 pm but has not restarted books borrowings which was stopped on the even of pandemic time.
Rs.200 is charged as membership fee.
