Gandhi Peace Foundation based in Ambujammal Street in Alwarpet is now offering snappy workshops to local schools.
S. Kulandaiswamy, secretary of the Foundation says the two-hour workshops for students of classes 6, 7, and 8 on ‘Peace Education based on Gandhian Values’ is created to empower youth on self-restraint, self-reliance, and non-violent conflict resolution methods.
He says, “For reference, we use the book ‘Gandhian Way to Peace’ which contains 50 lesson modules. Students who participate in this program develop good values and they evolve into creative writers and speakers on themes of peace and communal harmony.”
All the participants would be awarded participation certificates.
Schools can also buy this book for the students – a discount of Rs.50 on the actual price of Rs. 350 is given. The fee for participation in the workshop is Rs.500 per participant. Only 25 to 30 students are allowed in a batch.
