Dr. Ranga Road has lost a large avenue tree.
Workers working on constructing a new storm water drain on one side of the road are said to have damaged the roots of this tree while excavating the earth and when it began to tilt, decided to chop the tree down, according to local residents.
Some people said the tree was cut because it stood in the way of the newly planned drain.
