Kartik Fine Arts sabha is to launch its 31st edition of the annual Tamil drama festival called Kodai Nataka Vizha
from April 22.
This popular 12-day theatre festival is back after a two-year hiatus caused by the pandemic.

The sabha’s founder, late Kartik Rajagopal encouraged Tamil theatre and the drama festival was curated to present new plays at one venue at one time.
This year’s Kodai Nataka Vizha is scheduled at Narada Gana Sabha main hall from April 22 to May3, daily at 7 pm. Admission to the festival is free.
Twelve troupes including four debutants are set to to showcase their talents. This year, the Vizha is dedicated to the memory of arts promoter L.Sabaretnam, former chairman of the sabha.
Thirty awards and ten trophies are at stake – for Best Play, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Comedian, Best child artiste and many others which will be decided by a panel of judges who sit through all the plays.
The awards function is to be held at the same venue on June 1.
N. Ravi, chairman, Kasturi & Sons and publisher of The Hindu newspaper and other publications, inaugurates the Vizha. KFA president K. M. Narasimhan presides and creative director S. B. Khantan, is the guest of honour.
