Do you need to buy manure for your kitchen garden or for the potted plants at home?
Turn to the stalls put up by Chennai Corporation in your locality now.
The city’s civic body has been converting vegetable waste collected from neighbourhoods into manure, done over many weeks, packing it and selling it to the public.
We spotted one woman selling it in R A Puram – outside the GCC community hall on Kamaraj Salai, at the junction of Srinivasa Avenue road.
Each pack is priced Rs.20. The woman said she puts up this stall at about 10 am and remains here through the day. GCC says it has set up similar stalls ( most are near GCC local offices / public toilets / community halls) across the city.
