HR & CE Department and the team at Sri Kapaleeswarar Temple plan to organise a 12-hour-long cultural programme at the P. S. School playground on the occasion of Maha Sivarathri on March 1
The temple authorities are planning to set up a big stage where multiple artistes including othuvars will be presenting programmes through the night starting at 6p.m. on Tuesday, March 1, that will run up to 6a.m. the next morning.
This morning, the state minister handling the HR&CE affairs, Sekar Babu was at the playground that is now under the department’s management, discussing with the MLA and temple team plans for the big evening.
Sources in the temple told Mylapore Times that this is the first time that such mega event curated outside the temple premises.
Seating for some 2000 people besides facility for parking of cars and two-wheelers parking and for mobile washrooms will be organised. Prasadam is to be distributed to the devotees through the night.
The cultural fest will start at 6pm with a nagaswaram presentation by Sri Kapali Temple’s asthana vidwan Mohandas, followed by Thirumurai and veda parayanam. Into the night, there will be pattimandram, dance -drama, devotional and folk song concerts.
