Campaigning is in hectic mode for elections to the city civic council due on Feb.19 and this is evident in the inner colonies of Mylapore, more in densely populated zones.
Last evening, we saw the Makkal Needhi Maiam ‘s candidate for ward 124 Sasikala meeting hawkers and shop keepers and later, residents in the heart of Mylapore. ( photo above)
Mylapore’s MLA Dha Velu of the DMK has been also into hectic and long campaigning for candidates under the DMK’s alliance umbrella – the Congress and the CPI-M. ( photo above)
He was seen travelling around in an open keep canvassing in ward after ward in this zone. At one point, he had by his side in the jeep, the CPI-M’s Saraswati, a candidate in ward 123, led by cadres of the Communist and DMK parties.
Since the State Election Commission has now allowed small processions and street meetings, parties are making the best of these options to target voters as the deadline for campaigning is close at hand.
