A steady stream of people headed to the tank of Sri Kapaleeswarar Temple this Monday morning to conduct rituals on the amavasya day, a day to pray for and remember members of the family who have passed away.
This time around, people were allowed to have the rituals conducted by priests on the banks of the tank but not allowed on to the steps.
So as the crowd swelled, many people sat on the pavement of R K Mutt Road and went through the rituals.
